Fletcher, Shirley -

Shirley Fletcher

Plainwell - Shirley passed away on February 15, 2021 at Life Care Center of Plainwell. She was born on June 27, 1930 in Dunraven, Kentucky, the only child of the late George and Dora (Fugate) Allen at the start of the great depression. Growing up in the hills of Kentucky was hard and she learned at a young age it was not an easy life. With her mother passing away when she was only 11 years old, she was raised by a uncle and aunt. After attending school at Berea, KY, Shirley moved to Stockbridge, Michigan where she met and married Henry Fletcher in 1950. They were blessed with 5 daughters and eventually moved to the Plainwell area. Although Henry passed away in 1983, they shared 33 years of marriage. Shirley loved to sew, and enjoyed making dresses for her girls and later for her granddaughters. She was always happy, smiling and singing. She worked as a nurses aid for many years and after retiring as an in home health care aid. She loved to talk and could strike up a conversation with anyone. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses Plainwell and active in her faith until she was confined to Life Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry, and 3 daughters, Helen, and twins Joyce and Janet, granddaughter Stacey, half brother Carlos Campbell. Surviving are Pauline Fletcher of Plainwell, Bonnie (John) Arms of Wayland, 7 grandchildren John, Brian, Jim, Brandy, Jody, Julie and Lindsey. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Her wishes are for cremation. Inurnment will take pace at Oak Hill Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements by
