Moresco, Marianne -
Martin - Marianne Moresco passed away in her home on October 16, 2016. Her last week was spent happily with her children and grandchildren.
Born on September 5, 1931 in Wolkau, Germany; the oldest of 6 children she was forced to leave home at an early age to support herself and family. This resulted in separation from her family by the Berlin Wall. She lived in Koln Germany where she met and married Benvenuto Moresco. In search of opportunity and a better life, they immigrated to the United States settling in Kalamazoo Michigan where they proudly became citizens, purchased a home and raised three children. Later they built a home in Martin, Michigan where after her husband’s passing she found her serenity by building a garden.
Marianne loved nature, gardening, cooking and the fiber arts. She freely shared the many fruits of her talents with family and friends. Her friendships were maintained for a lifetime frequently receiving and making calls at all hours of the day and night to speak with friends both in Europe and different time zones within the United States.
Marianne is survived by sister, Martha Homer; brothers, Warren and Verner Nitsche; and step sister, Christa Kallauch. Her children and their spouses, Marina (Charles) Sage; Aegidio (Deb) Moresco and Mario Moresco (Pam Stanyon); by her Grandchildren, Monica (Jason) Wolverton, Maria Moresco, Doug (Linda) Sage, Troy (Jenna) Sage; and great grandchildren, Justin, Jessica, Grace and Emma Wolverton. Also surviving are Brother-in-law, Nino (Cristal) Moresco. Nieces, Cheryl Brodka, Ingrid Brown and Karen Stallman.
No funeral services will be held and direct cremation has occurred per Marianne’s wishes. The family asks that you drink a toast or light a candle in her honor and take a moment to admire the flowers and gifts of nature as she would have.
